Bio

Tina Peacock is a British contemporary artist whose abstract painting explores resistance and the tension between stability and change.

Her practice is concerned with structures that appear stable but are never completely fixed. Through layering, repetition, interruption and erasure, Peacock builds and rebuilds painted surfaces, exploring how forms can hold, resist, fracture, overlap and adapt. Her paintings emerge through a process of making and responding, allowing previous decisions to remain visible beneath new ones and creating surfaces that carry a sense of accumulated time, pressure and change.

Peacock's interest in resistance and adaptation is rooted partly in lived experience. Growing up in the transient environment of a hotel in Cornwall as the youngest of five children, she experienced the tension between strict routine and unpredictability from an early age.

Experiences of loss, grief and domestic violence have also shaped her understanding of resilience, relationships and the ways in which people respond to pressure. Rather than illustrating these experiences, Peacock translates their emotional and psychological impact into physical structures within the painting.

Working primarily with vinyl emulsion paint (Flashe), acrylic, graphite and ink, Peacock creates paintings on canvas, paper and wood, ranging from intimate works to larger-scale pieces. Her approach balances structure with instinct, allowing control and uncertainty to exist alongside one another.

Self-taught for much of her development as an artist, Peacock has spent the past decade building her professional and creative practice. She graduated from the Contemporary Art Academy, London, in 2025, having previously studied Art & Design at AUB and undertaken further study with Newlyn School of Art and the Classical Art Academy Atelier in Southbourne. Her wider training includes artist-led workshops in artists' books, monoprinting, linocut, collage, mixed media and earth-based pigments.

Peacock is a Member Artist of the international arts organisation ArtCan and exhibits both nationally and locally. She has been selected for Bath Contemporary Artists Fair and has worked with organisations including Vortic Art, Cosimo Art and the Visual Artists Association. Her practice has also been supported through mentoring with Dean Melbourne (The Artist Advisor) and Zoe Goetzmann of The Artist Workspace Gallery.
